My Priorities

As the wedding plans slowly skyrocket out of control, I thought I’d take a minute to remind myself what’s important to us in the day.

  1. Spending time with family and friends, all under one roof
  2. Sharing two of our favourite things with those people: great food and great wine
  3. I think disc golf is at the top of jon’s list.
  4. Wine. good wine. did i mention that yet?
  5. Fun! Why is this all so serious? I want to get everyone together and taste some laugh, chat, get to know each other, and …. go home a little happier than we were before.

For better or worse, we found a couple of really pretty spots. Here were two of them:
Anne Amie

Anne Amie: Maybe still my favourite place–the views were just incredible. The problem is that we’re not sure they’d be very receptive to letting us inside if it rained. Also, jon said he didn’t love the wines as much as some other places.

Rex Hill

Rex Hill: Another cool place–and another vineyard that wasn’t really into the idea of weddings in their spot.

I’m almost wondering if the guerrilla wedding is the way to go.

“What wedding? I just like to wear big white dresses.”

weddings are a lot of work.

so much money!!

I think… that wedding planning officially stopped being fun.
I think I may finally take my mom’s advice and call that wedding planner.
I think our small, off-beat wedding is quickly turning into a large, produced, traditional affair.
…the reception dinner is a waste of time.
…$3000 is way too much to spend, to be allowed to stand in someone’s gazebo for a few hours.
…everyone should wear jeans so I never have to think about bridesmaid dresses again.

…I think that i should skip class tonight, sit home with a bottle of wine, and think about how much work planning a wedding is.

jon–thanks for being supportive and keeping me grounded. I have a feeling it will get harder before it gets easier.
