Sonoma

I didn’t really tell you about Sonoma County. I’m going to break it up into a few sip-sized-parts for you.

Random Vines

I can easily get carried away with how cool the land is out there. The scenery is just unbeatable and has such a distinct look from the Willamette or Yakima.

Our first stop was Geyser Peak. Geyser Peak distributes a 10$ range Sauvingnon Blanc, so I don’t think either of us expected much. Oh, and they had a 2-for-1 coupon. I’m not sure how much I can stress the point that I didn’t have high expectations going in.

Boy, was I wrong.

Geyser Peak Tasting Room

Their wines were awesome. We ended up buying two bottles — one zin from 50-year vines and a port that was really nice. j’s a sucker for ports. I think it’s because it looks sophisticated to order them at the end of a meal. haha. They do make chocolate more bearable.

Lunch at Sushi Deli 2

Jessi, you totally missed out. You know, being in a different state, and sitting hungrily in your office and whatnot. You should live vicariously through me. Here we go:

Sushi Deli Sushi!

This was lunch! We ordered two combo plates, which in most restaurants have things like… tekka maki, or cali rolls. This was awesome! So much food I couldn’t finish it, for 20$.

A couple of nights ago, I harassed our server at Zanzibar and she gave us a list of restaurants to check out. This was one of them and it was so great!

Wandering About

There’s a wine store, downstairs from our apartment. Everyone in this particular town seems to have a web site.  I really appreciate that.

We appear to live in the middle of restaurant-row.  It’s kind of nice.  There are like… six solid blocks of restaurants and quite a few of them look like they’ll be open for lunch, which is great because then jon and I can go together.

San Diego

Well we’re here.  Our apartment is just short of amazing, and the city seems to be sunny most of the day.  Really nice weather too–I was really concerned about it being just terribly hot all the time, and it looks like it stays right around the high 70s.

I can’t work the dryer.  And our washing machine seems to have a dryer built in.  So I have 2 dryers and can’t work either of them.  It’s making me feel really intelligent today.  Sigh. The answering machine and I also had a bit of a spat.  Honestly now.  I haven’t worked an *answering machine*  in nearly 9 years.  How archaic.

So it’s a beautiful day with an entirely new city to explore, and I can’t bring myself to go outside. I think it really sucks that jon has to work at night and we can’t hang out together.  Grumble.

Moro Bay

I was in charge of finding hotels for us along the way. This has, overall, resulted in us staying in really cheap places where you’re not positive that you won’t catch something-that-you’ll-need-a-cream-for-later-from the shower.

I hit a low point in Moro Bay.

$46.00 WITH tax. and 50 feet from the ocean. That sounds cool right?

It was… condemned.

So now we’re in San Luis Obispo, which was supposed to be a really cute town anyways. Our shower didn’t have anything to fear, and there was even a mini fridge to keep our cheese in. Pretty fancy.
