My armpit, your armpit…. Tijuana!

Bringing it a little more current, yesterday jon and I went to mexico.

That’s right. We went to Mexico, for the 4th of July. That kind of sums up my patriotism, i think.  Here were a couple of highlights:

Most of the main street were shops selling the exact same jewelry, leather wallets and fake watches. We found this one area that had smaller little vendors and a little more character.

In that same area, we had lunch. $1 tacos and $1 beers. I was really excited about the cactus tacos (nopal) so i ordered two. They… taste like fish. I just can’t even imagine how something with no water around it could taste like fish.

There were donkeys painted like zebras… everywhere. I don’t understand.

Then, on the way back to ‘merica, I found one to ride! After many attempts at convincing the Mexican family next to me, to ride with me, I was left alone on my solitary adventure.

the FREAKIN zoo!

I want you all to know how very jealous you should be of jon and I.  Seriously. The san diego zoo was incredible.  Look, jon fed a GIRAFFE!

IMG_0609.JPG

I recently had two doctors offices in a row (seriously, within one day) that wanted giraffe themed sites. I thought it was weird until I actually met a few giraffes. They’re so freakin cool!

Jon has a theory about polar bears and why the zoo keepers feed them vegetables. “Oh look kids, polar bears are fuzzy and fluffy and cuddly and they just LOVE lettuce.” and then they wait until the zoo is closed for the day and they feed them raw seal-meat. Regardless, I think they’re fluffy and fuzzy and i love them. when they’re behind glass

What was I most excited about? The petting zoo. This one was okay. Too many goats, not enough fluffy-cuddly stuff. Like polar bears. Yeah. I’d like to see that lettuce eating polar bear in the petting zoo. Anyways, this is me and a goat. I’d like to call him Mr. Goat.

Jessi asked me what I was most excited to see. I said the stegosaurus. This was the closest i saw: the stegosaurusTree

Yuma

I was flipping through the camera yesterday and realized I’m a little behind on posting photos for you kids.

2 weeks ago, Jon and I drove out to Yuma, AZ to meet up with Ann, Beckie and Brian. Despite the heat, we had a fantastic time and it was great to see everyone .  We went out for Mexican food (because what else do you eat when you’re miles from the international border?) and spent some time at the old Arizona state prison.  It’s a state park.  That’s right… Arizona doesn’t have anything else, so they made the prison a state park.

Here are some highlights:

Before actually going out into prisons, we watched this video that told us all about the prisons. It was really, really bad.

This was the museum. The video that we watched basically took a camcorder and talked about what was behind the glass. The museum was actually very interesting but I’d like to once again tell you how lame the video was. Really, really lame.
