how we turned out.

I love that we’ve become the sort of people that get crate and barrel magazines in the mail.  That we have cooking magazines sitting on the coffee table, and that we, nearly always, have a pretty good bottle of wine open, just for sipping on a Tuesady.

I love that we do the crossword together and drink sparkling wine on sunday mornings, that we have fresh flowers in the house and have shelves and shelves of books in the bedroom.

As reluctact as jon is to admit it, I think we’re grown ups.  And you know, I think we turned out to be pretty cool ones.

Wine Dinner

Jon and I just got back from a multi-course, basque inspired, wine dinner at the local wine shop.  It was awesome.  We do really cool things.

And I think I’m a pretty lucky girl to have someone so indulgent.

Highlights: ultra-caramelized onions over quince paste and toast, rare-seared duck with…. somethingsomething sauce, caramelized quince with bay-scented cream.

Also, jon forgot to wear his wedding ring, so it looked like I was on an extramarital date.  It was not weddinglicious.  (note: jon says that a key part of the story is that he took it off because he was doing dishes.  The dishes, I may add, were from my ultramessy dinner last night where i made every pot/pan in the house dirty and greased up the entire kitchen.)

I hope to be a cleaner cook in the future.  But I have to ask:  how do you cook chicken on the stovetop, without splattering chickenjuice all over EVERYTHING?

Oh, yeah!

I just realized that I haven’t really talked about the WEDDING yet. hah.

Well. It was incredible, to say the least. I think it was everything that I could have asked for, though there were a few surprises and missteps along the way. We’ll put up a more detailed recap soon (like, when it’s not 6:30am, and I’m not at work), but I did want to drop a short line of thanks and appreciation to everyone who made it awesome.

Also, don’t forget to check out the group photos here. and please! Log in and upload the ones that you took! (email me if you need password info)

We’re married!

Next stop, Milwaukee.  Join us for the luau on October 4th.

More details to come.

If I’m not afraid to get married, why do I freak out every time I think about the wedding?

I sound like an ad for an anti-anxiety prescription. “Call your doctor today if you have shortness of breath, chronic wide eyes, sleeplessness, listless wimpering, and the inability to be productive.”

Why am I blogging, he asks? Well, because I can’t focus for long enough to work, and I haven’t written my vows yet.
