Celebrity Houses…. at night.

I am endlessly fascinated with our city.

Jon and I were walking along the lakefront in the dark and had one of those “wow. we live here.” moments. Our apartments are easily identifiable from a distance:

Our camera takes really crappy night-photos. While there are a couple of optons for manual override, there aren’t any “night” settings. Does anyone have recommendations on aperture / shutter speed settings to take less grainy photos? Elizabeth?

The Living Room

You may remember hearing about the Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama. The other night, jon and I wandered around in search of dinner. What did we find?

Chano-ma.

chano-ma outside

From the outside, Chano-ma looks like like a regular (if not hipper-than-thou) restaurant. Inside, a waiter will ask if you’d like to sit at a table or on the bed.

I’m sorry, what? Am I really allowed to eat dinner on the bed!?

Midway through our meal (which was best described as pan-asian small plates) I looked up the word “chano-ma” in the dictionary. Sure enough, it means “sitting room” or “living room”. Clever.

chano-ma

Really cool place, awesome vibe. Laid back and industrial. Pretty good food (didn’t blow us away, but it was also a welcome change of pace from the ramen bowls we’ve been eating most often.) Across the restaurant, in the smokers-section, there was a large screen showing music videos (some American, some Japanese).
